Job Title: Strategic Government Liaison

">Overview:

CMSIRO seeks an experienced professional to lead our engagement with federal government departments.

">Key Responsibilities:
  1. Proactively lead CSIRO's engagement and collaboration with federal government departments, ensuring the scientific impacts of CSIRO's science and research are well understood by government.
  2. Ensure CSIRO meets its legislative, parliamentary, and administrative responsibilities, including coordinating portfolio tasks such as ministerial briefs, responses to parliamentary questions on notice, senate estimates, inquiries, consultations, and associated tasks.
  3. Support CSIRO's input to cabinet and related processes, and work with relevant departments to develop policy proposals for consideration through the budget process cycle.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Australia's federal government environment and operations, as well as public policy development and administration.

To be successful, you will need excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to identify and prioritise issues in materials prepared by external parties, and present complex ideas concisely.

Additionally, you will require a relevant tertiary qualification (science based) and/or relevant experience in leadership and management within the public sector setting, as well as experience building relationships across the organisation.
