Senior Government Liaison Officer

This role is a 6-month contract based in either Canberra or Sydney, requiring regular travel. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team responsible for facilitating extensive engagement with government across the organisation.

Main Responsibilities
  • Support the execution of government engagement strategic objectives
  • Establish and build on relationships of trust and credibility with governments
  • Prepare, organise and review papers, briefings, policies and reports related to government engagement
  • Monitor emerging government issues, manage government-related events and be the point of contact for government
Key Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in government relations within Australia in a complex environment
  • Knowledge of Australia's electricity and gas sectors
  • Understanding of the machinery of government and experience liaising at senior Departmental and Ministerial office level, preferably Federal
  • Strong networks and reputation established with governments, preferably Federal
  • Tertiary qualifications in business, policy, commerce, economics, law or related discipline or significant experience of parity
