Job Title: HSE Advisor
This role is responsible for driving performance in health, safety, and environmental (HSE) across the Asset Solutions Australia region. The successful candidate will be a HSE representative for nominated assets, projects, and/or contracts, providing technical expertise and human performance understanding.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver conformance with HSE-related GMS requirements and regulatory compliance.
- Provide challenge, coaching, and support to contract/asset office and site teams for continuous HSE improvement.
- Offer HSE reporting and information to the contract/asset Leadership team and travel quarterly to the site.
- Represent Petrofac to Clients and Regulators, acting as a business partner for the HSE function for nominated scopes of work.
- Review and propose changes to HSE content of GMS systems and procedures for simplicity and effectiveness.
- Support risk assessment meetings and reviews, providing challenge for nominated scopes.
- Assist in preparing emergency and bridging documents, workpack dossiers, and other contract-specific deliverables.
- Develop project/asset HSE deliverables, including HSE plans, interface/bridging documentation, and emergency response documentation.
- Participate in project/asset readiness reviews and lessons learned sessions.
- Manage project/asset audit and assurance schedules, undertaking audits and site visits, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Encourage workforce engagement, including Employee Safety Representatives, and promote safety conversations, human performance, and mistake reduction.
- Be a member of the Petrofac emergency response team on a rota basis.
- Develop insights from safety metrics analysis, contractor self-verification, and other findings.
- Support the evaluation of contractors and subcontractors.
- Be a focal point for site-based HSE team members.
The post holder is expected to adhere to the IOGP Lifesaving Rules, IOGP Process Safety Fundamentals, Petrofac Values, and Behaviours.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in operational roles or HSE functions in Oil and Gas or high-hazard industries.
- Detailed knowledge of HSE practices and procedures, Control of Work, emergency response, and delivery of safety programs.
- Knowledge of occupational and industrial health and safety.
- Broad understanding of human performance and human factors.
- Broad understanding of environmental issues relevant to the industry.
- Engineering or Science degree preferred.
- Trained incident investigator or demonstrable competence in the subject.
- Trained auditor or demonstrable competence in the subject.
