Executive Level 1 Role Overview

The Assistant Director plays a pivotal role within the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations, providing access to high-quality skills, training, and employment services to support Australians in securing work in fair, productive, and safe workplaces.

This key position reports directly to the Director and manages a team that offers enabling and coordination capabilities to the Workplace Relations Group.

The Strategic Consultation Team and Consultation Coordination teams collaborate with various groups across the Workplace Relations Group to facilitate effective consultation and engagement with external stakeholders on the delivery of Government workplace relations policy objectives.

The Assistant Director leads research and provides policy advice to support ongoing engagement and consultative planning materials. Additionally, they liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding the coordination of consultative, negotiation, and engagement processes for complex and sensitive reforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Strategic Consultation Team and/or Consultation Coordination Team.
  • Develop tools or products that enable oversight of consultative processes across the WR Group.
  • Lead research and provide policy advice to support consultative planning materials.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding the coordination of consultative processes.
