Chief Software Engineering Officer

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the software engineering capability of a leading innovation and R&D house.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead holistic governance and management of software product development and delivery, formalising program-level software management systems, including DevSecOps frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
The ideal candidate will have experience in software engineering governance, software team management, managing commercial deployment of software, employing DevOps and DevSecOps frameworks, implementing and managing CI/CD processes, rapid/agile development processes, hardware/software integration, and reside in Australia.
A strong understanding of Defence operations, military command and control functions, distributed operations, networking architectures, developing software for R&D programs, delivering software for robotic and autonomous systems applications, Linux-based operating systems, Team Awareness Kits, MIL-STD-6090 Cursor-on-Target protocol are highly desirable.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead holistic governance and management of software product development and delivery
- Formalise program-level software management systems, including DevSecOps frameworks and CI/CD pipelines
- Manage network engineers, software engineers, and software developers
- Represent the interests of the organisation to customers and in public forums
Requirements:
- Experience in software engineering governance and software team management
- Experience managing commercial deployment of software
- Experience employing DevOps and DevSecOps frameworks
- Experience implementing and managing CI/CD processes
- Experience with rapid/agile development processes
- Reside in Australia
- Hold Australian Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Defence operations
