Job Role

We are seeking an experienced Shipping Lead to join our dynamic team in this newly created role. As the key contact for supply chain management, you will play a critical role in ensuring timely deliveries and solving logistical challenges.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, able to oversee and coordinate a small team responsible for managing container bookings, shipping, customs clearing, and inbound planning/delivery scheduling.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a small team of 2-3 people, managing container bookings, shipping, customs clearing, and inbound planning/delivery scheduling.
  • Coordinate with wharf cartage contractors and shipping lines to plan movement of containers from port to distribution centers.
  • Work collaboratively with other teams (warehousing/despatch, finance, product, suppliers) to manage smooth movement of containers through DC's within capacity levels, meeting due dates to fulfill customer commitments and eliminate demurrage costs.
  • Maintain relationships with wharf cartage contractors, shipping lines, and customs agent/forwarders.
  • Develop and produce internal reporting and forecasts to plan/project container volumes.
  • Contribute to annual reviews with shipping lines, developing forecasts by port pair and supporting negotiations with shipping lines for annual contracts.

  • Previous experience in logistics and transport.
