About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Climate Policy Specialist to join our team at Monash University. This is an exciting opportunity to drive substantial carbon emission reductions across Australia and contribute to shaping policy and driving decarbonisation in heavy industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Policy Intervention Development: Plan, scope, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver impactful policy outcomes that advance Climateworks' priorities.
  • Influence Plans: Create and implement strategies to advance Climateworks' policy objectives and build strong relationships with government, business, community groups, and research organisations.
  • Relationship Building: Engage with key stakeholders, including government, business, community groups, and research organisations, to identify opportunities for partnerships and collaboration.
  • Opportunity Identification: Seek out new partnerships and prepare various documents to support Climateworks' mission and drive policy change.
  • Research Communication: Actively contribute to presenting Climateworks' ideas to policy influencers and senior executives, showcasing the organisation's expertise and thought leadership.
  • Strategic Advice: Support the development of Climateworks' strategy and policy plans, providing informed advice and guidance to inform decision-making.
  • Culture Fostering: Demonstrate leadership values and influence organisational culture, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.

What We Offer

We provide a range of benefits, including flexible and hybrid working arrangements, supporting parents and offering a range of policies enabling staff to combine work and personal commitments. Our salary package includes an estimated $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
