Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage effective relationships with stakeholders to ensure consistent service quality and efficiency.
  • Coordinate the team's workload and manage staff leave and absences to ensure adequate resourcing during peak periods.
  • Lead the administration of the Council's rates functions, including distribution of notices, responding to enquiries, property valuation adjustments, and administration of pensioner concessions.
  • Proactively coordinate and manage debt recovery procedures and administer Council's Hardship Policy.
  • Lead implementation and driving efficiency within a team.
  • Accountability for building the best team, with a deep understanding of what leadership requires.
  • Focusing their team on the priorities of the City and achieving both short- and longer-term goals.
  • Facilitate effective utilization of time and resources and enhance their capacity to achieve key objectives.
  • Values collaboration and teamwork and focuses on the achievement of team goals.

About You:

To excel in this role, you should be self-motivated with excellent time management and analytical skills. You should hold a tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, or a related discipline. The ability to problem solve operational issues, with excellent attention to detail, superior communication skills and a collaborative style. Strong team leadership experience, a history of implementing continuous improvements, with a customer service focus are also crucial. This is a hands-on role so you must enjoy working at this level.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • 4+ years of experience leading and supervising a team.
  • Understanding of Local Government Legislation and/or State/Federal Legislation related to Government.
  • Experience with Technology One / OneCouncil Property and Rating System is an advantage.
  • Effective time management, task prioritization, and organizational skills.
