Senior Debt Lawyer

About the Role:

This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic legal team in a fast-paced environment where you will be responsible for reviewing and negotiating transaction documentation, coordinating transactions through to execution, and advising on a portfolio of existing deals.

You will assist the Business Development team with structuring transactions pre-mandate and provide legal support for new product development. You will also act as an escalation point for legal queries from across the business and instruct external counsel as required.

Responsibilities:
  1. Review and negotiate transaction documentation;
  2. Coordinate transactions through to execution;
  3. Advise on a portfolio of existing deals;
  4. Assist the Business Development team with structuring transactions pre-mandate;
  5. Provide legal support for new product development;
  6. Act as an escalation point for legal queries;
  7. Instruct external counsel as required.
Requirements:
  • Degree (or equivalent) educated;
  • Strong working knowledge of APLMA/LMA/LSTA leveraged and investment grade documents;
  • Debt capital markets, structured finance, and securitisation experience highly valued;
  • Solid understanding of corporate debt restructuring, distressed/special situations, and/or enforcement processes;
  • Experience gained in private practice or in-house finance/banking teams or within a transaction management group;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong negotiation skills;
  • Able to prioritise work, take the initiative, and effectively manage workload while balancing competing demands;
  • Demonstrable transaction management skills and attention to detail.
