Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Guiding Experience Specialist to deliver exceptional tours and experiences for our visitors. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that every guest has an unforgettable experience at Cape Otway Lightstation.

As a Guiding Experience Specialist, your main responsibility will be to provide engaging and informative commentary to visitors, highlighting the rich history and significance of the lightstation and its surroundings. You will also be responsible for conducting group tours, ensuring that all guests have a safe and enjoyable experience.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Delivering high-quality tours and engagement, focusing on enriching the visitor experience through meeting and exceeding expectations.
  • Adhering to opening and closing procedures of site facilities, ensuring that all areas are clean and tidy.
  • Ensuring that all historic displays and interpretative sites are professionally presented at all times.
  • Observing and implementing safe practices while undertaking tour guiding, ensuring visitor safety.
  • Identifying potential risks and reporting any hazards, accidents, incidents, or near misses to management.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. You should also have a strong knowledge of the lightstation's history and surroundings, as well as a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Tertiary qualification in Tourism, Hospitality, or a related field of study.

Demonstrated experience in the tourism or hospitality sector as a tour guide.
