Environmental Health Specialist

The role of Environmental Health Coordinator is to deliver efficient and effective public and environmental health services relating to food premises, legionella control, commercial and public owned swimming pools, skin penetration and onsite sewage management.
This position requires a high level of technical expertise, excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of relevant legislation and be able to provide expert advice and information to stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver public and environmental health services to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
- Manage and investigate complaints on health-related issues including food-borne illness outbreaks.
- Provide detailed assessments of development applications relevant to environmental health requirements.
- Offer expert advice and information to stakeholders to raise awareness of community safety matters.
- Bachelor of Applied Science (Environmental Health) or equivalent qualifications acceptable for membership of the Australian Institute of Environmental Health.
- Considerable experience as an Environmental Health Officer or similar position.
- Extensive technical skills and expertise in interpreting relevant Local Government, Public Health and Environmental Legislation.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare technical reports on investigations and outcomes of environmental, public and community health issues.
- Excellent customer service, negotiation, written and verbal communication skills and conflict resolution.
- Experience in supervision, training, mentoring and coaching staff.
- Current NSW Driver's Licence - Class C.
