The primary responsibility of a Radiocommunications Technician is to ensure the maintenance and optimal functioning of telecommunications infrastructure across the state. This includes installation, configuration, and ongoing support for a range of technologies including WCDMA/LTE/4G/5G/NBN networks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Comprehensive understanding of scope of works as outlined on build drawings and site survey findings.
  • Installation and ongoing maintenance of WCDMA/LTE/4G/5G/NBN technologies.
  • Configuration and integration of radio base stations, Hybriflex Cables, Coaxial feeder cables/tails, earthing, cable trays, diplexers, and combiners.
  • Upgrading or installing DC power rack systems including rectifiers, batteries, and load testing.
  • Configuring and capturing status for Hand Over Packs (HOP's).
  • Commissioning and integration of RBS into the network.
  • Conducting PIM, VSWR, sweep, and fibre testing.
  • Troubleshooting, replacing defective equipment, and monitoring site performance.
  • Installation and commissioning of microwave indoor and outdoor units.
  • Software installation, testing, and commissioning of sites.
  • Building and maintaining collaborative business relationships with client support personnel.
  • Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with team and business staff.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications:
  • Tertiary qualification in Telecommunications or Engineering science, electronics, or microprocessors.
  • Equivalent experience as a telecommunications technician if no qualification is held.
  • Experience in installation, commissioning, and testing of Nokia and/or Ericsson equipment.
  • Current Working at Heights / Tower Rescue Ticket; First Aid and CPR.
  • Construction White Card.
  • Full Manual Drivers Licence.
  • Radhaz RF EME Awareness, Telstra, NBN, Vodafone, Optus 3G/4G experience will be highly regarded.
  • Able to work away from home if required.
