About the Role

The University of Melbourne is seeking a highly skilled Database Manager to play a central role in the PLATIPUS project, a platform for adaptive trials in perinatal units. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, managing, and maintaining trial databases, ensuring data integrity and security, and providing technical support and training related to the database systems.

This is a unique opportunity to work with a talented team of researchers and clinicians to advance perinatal research across Australia and New Zealand. The Database Manager will work closely with the PLATIPUS Data Manager and external providers to develop and maintain databases, ensuring compliance with regulations and user-friendly management processes.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Overseeing the development and maintenance of PLATIPUS databases, ensuring data security and compliance with regulations.
  • Managing database modifications, extracting data sets for biostatistical analysis, and maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of research data.
  • Actively participating in trial and departmental meetings, maintaining technical competencies, and providing educational support to research staff.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will hold a degree in epidemiology, biomedical science, data management, or a related field, alongside relevant experience. You will have expertise in handling extensive data tasks, such as quality assurance, cleaning, and manipulation, particularly with clinical trial eCRF platforms. Strong communication skills are essential for liaising with stakeholders and creating user manuals.
