We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Strategic Planner to join our City Strategy department at Melton City Council. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our city through strategic land use planning, project management, research, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Manage and coordinate the review, monitoring, and development of existing and new precinct structure plans, local policies, and other strategic projects.
  • Strategic Planning: Coordinate and facilitate the preparation of Planning Scheme amendments to the Melton Planning Scheme.
  • Team Collaboration: Participate in and lead cross-departmental project working groups, providing strategic planning input and expertise.
  • Community Engagement: Undertake community consultation activities to ensure the community is aware of and has opportunities to input in the preparation of strategic planning projects.
Requirements
  • Tertiary Qualification: A tertiary qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline.
  • Experience: Several years of relevant experience in strategic planning, including the preparation of Precinct Structure Plans and the development of planning policies.
  • Leadership Skills: Experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams, preparing project briefs, and delivering high-quality outputs.
  • Negotiation Skills: Well-developed skills in negotiations and conflict resolution, with the ability to deal with complex situations and present a positive Council image.
  • Driver's Licence: A current valid Victorian Driver's Licence.
