
Strategic Supply Chain Manager

This role involves overseeing procurement activities to enhance supply chain performance and capacity. The position will manage activities within the supply chain to support Collins Class submarines.
Key responsibilities include sourcing processes, contract negotiation, and supplier management. Ideal candidates will have a tertiary qualification in commerce, law, or a related field, and significant experience in supply chain roles, particularly in defence or manufacturing environments.
The successful candidate will possess strong negotiation skills, knowledge of contractual terms and conditions, and enterprise risk management principles. They will also be eligible for membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Australia and have a proven track record of delivering cost savings and business value through sourcing strategy and plans.
Eligibility requirements include a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance, and the ability to access protected US defence technology.

Responsibilities- Sourcing process to down select a preferred supplier to conduct negotiations.
- Preparation of a negotiation plan to clearly set best case to worst case negotiated outcomes.
- Conducting negotiations using project/SME representatives and keeping stakeholders informed of progress.
- Providing good governance to ensure the supplier is performing as required in accordance with the contract(s) or Purchase Order(s).
- Managing change requests submitted by the supplier(s).
- Tertiary qualification in commerce, law, or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of category management, strategic sourcing, and contracting principles and best practices.
- Strong negotiation skills for use in large and/or complex deals.
- Significant knowledge of contractual terms and conditions to mitigate legal risk.
- Knowledge of enterprise risk management.
- Minimum of 10 years demonstrated experience in a relevant Supply Chain role in a defence, manufacturing, or resource environment.
- Eligible for membership of (CIPSA) Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Australia.
- Proven track record of delivering significant cost savings and other business value through the development and implementation of sourcing strategy and plans.
- Possesses project management skills to manage sourcing projects to agreed timelines and budget restraints.
