Procurement Specialist Job Description">

The role of Procurement Specialist is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of business units by managing day-to-day purchasing functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Purchase goods and services at optimal prices, adhering to company policies, including electronic documentation management.
  • Ensure an uninterrupted flow of materials and services for EDL Australia and globally as required.
  • Expedite supply of goods and services when necessary.
  • Maintain strong relationships with end users, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Recommend cost-effective suppliers based on quality, delivery, and service requirements.
  • Process variations to purchase orders and close them when no longer needed, following company directives.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders as necessary.
  • Support Accounts Payable Staff with discrepancies on invoice variances, ensuring timely processing and payment.
  • Adhere to fair and ethical practices in all dealings, complying with company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the company from time to time.

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated understanding of customer service in external-facing environments, particularly applicable to EDL.
  • Intermediate-level proficiency in Microsoft applications.
  • Knowledge or ability to quickly acquire knowledge of relevant standards, legislation, guidelines, principles, and practices related to procurement policies and OH&S.
  • Practical experience in purchasing or demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire same.
  • Experience in maintaining external party relationships.
  • Intermediate interpersonal and communication skills, along with a strong customer focus.
  • Able to manage competing priorities and achieve targets.
  • Sound knowledge in using ERP and PC office-based software applications.
  • Time management and organisational skills demonstrated.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Relevant purchasing qualifications (e.g. Queensland Purchasing certification) or equivalent in Procurement & Logistics Management or a related field.
  • Previous purchasing experience (5-10 years).
  • Knowledge of supply management systems and working within a purchasing and contracting framework.
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion system.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
