About the Role

Menzies School of Health Research is seeking a seasoned Genomic Epidemiologist and Modeller to contribute to world-class research aimed at accelerating malaria elimination across the Asia-Pacific and the Americas.

This position offers a unique opportunity to lead cutting-edge analytical frameworks combining molecular and epidemiological data to model Plasmodium transmission chains, particularly in low endemic and outbreak-prone settings.

  • You will develop and implement innovative molecular surveillance tools, co-supervise junior researchers and postgraduate students, lead publications, and play a key role in securing competitive research funding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead data analysis and manuscript preparation
  • Demonstrate supportive and collaborative leadership skills with students and researchers
  • Build productive relationships with collaborators

Requirements

  • PhD or equivalent postgraduate qualification in a relevant field
  • Record of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Proficiency in programming (e.g., R, Python)
  • Experience with genomic data analysis and Bayesian inference frameworks
  • Strong publication record and experience supervising students or junior researchers
