Metallurgist - Driving Operational Excellence

The role of Metallurgist Projects is a pivotal position within our organization, focused on driving operational improvement and excellence. As part of our team, you will be responsible for contributing to a strong safety culture, based on transparent and open communication with the operating and metallurgy teams.

This is an opportunity to develop and implement operational improvement projects to increase plant safety, throughput, recovery, and quality. You will also be involved in process plant performance investigations and implementing improvement actions in consultation with the operations team, engineering, and maintenance teams.

Key responsibilities include conducting pilot plants and test work programmes to support our capital expansion programme, facilitating plant surveys and subsequent work scopes, coordinating external test work programmes with partner and vendor laboratories, and ensuring the safe and effective operation of our metallurgical laboratory.

To succeed in this role, you will require tertiary qualifications in Metallurgical Engineering, Process Engineering, or Chemical Engineering disciplines, along with experience in minerals processing at either a project or plant metallurgist level.

A key aspect of this position is your ability to autonomously develop, conduct, and interpret metallurgical test work, plant surveys, and plant trials, particularly in sulphide flotation. Additionally, you will be responsible for delivering process improvement projects and modifications, contributing to the team's culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

Effective communication skills are essential, with the ability to adapt communication styles depending on audience levels, including technical reporting and operational direction.

This role is located at Carrapateena, South Australia, on an 8 days on; 6 days off FIFO roster.
