Job Title: Youth Development Specialist

At Yourtown, we are committed to supporting young people to reach their full potential. As a Youth Development Specialist, you will play a vital role in delivering strengths-based case management to young people, helping them to overcome vocational and non-vocational barriers to employment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate individual strengths and connect young people with specialized support services.
  • Craft and deliver engaging group activities and workshops to enhance vocational and non-vocational skills, life skills, and work readiness in young people.
  • Work in collaboration with the young person to set goals to address non-vocational barriers.
  • Design personalized case plans that ignite enthusiasm, closely tracking and celebrating progress and achievements.
  • Collaborate in case conferences with the job placement coach to ensure a coordinated approach.
  • Champion innovation, challenge the norm, and tirelessly advocate for the well-being and success of young individuals.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of two years of experience in a similar role, along with a Certificate IV in Youth Work or a related discipline.
  • Alternatively, possess a minimum of four years of experience in youth work (or a similar role).
  • Practical experience in youth work, proficiently case managing young people engaged in Transition to Work.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with a talent for networking.
  • Proficient skills in using technology and systems.

We help children and young people realize they have the ability to tackle whatever life throws at them. We help them to believe in their unique strengths, tenacity, and self-determination.

Our office hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. For this role, you will be required to work a rostered late shift on Thursdays (starting at 10:30 AM and finishing at 7:00 PM) every few weeks.
