Technical Claims Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Technical Claims Specialist to join our team in Sydney. This hybrid role requires working at least three days a week in the office and involves managing end-to-end processes for general insurance claims, conducting accurate reserving and claims investigation, and negotiating with third parties.

  • Manage a portfolio of general insurance claims for clients, focusing on liability claims.
  • Conduct accurate reserving, claims investigation, manage claims costs, and negotiate with various third parties.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
  • Analyse entitlements of cover to Clients.
  • Deal with external reinsurers on a quarterly basis.
  • Foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including brokers, underwriters, and reinsurers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Claims Management: Manage a portfolio of general insurance claims from initiation to closure, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
  • Investigation and Negotiation: Conduct thorough investigations into claims, identify areas of potential risk, and negotiate with third parties to achieve fair outcomes.
  • Client Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing exceptional customer service and support throughout the claims process.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with internal stakeholders, including brokers, underwriters, and reinsurers, to ensure seamless communication and collaboration throughout the claims process.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in general insurance claims management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A strong customer service approach.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and work flexibly when required.
  • Previous experience in providing indemnity advice to stakeholders.
  • Deductive reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work in Australia.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in managing high-value public liability, property claims, and D&O claims.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, such as Law, Business/Commerce, Loss Adjusting or ANZIIF studies.
  • Previous client-facing experience.
  • Previous experience in mentoring colleagues.
