Scrum Master

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Scrum Master to join our team at Local Peoples, a strategic research and design studio based in Melbourne and Canberra. As a Scrum Master, you will play a crucial role in facilitating Agile ceremonies, building high-performing teams, and removing impediments to delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Agile Ceremonies: Lead Agile ceremonies using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology, ensuring they are positive and productive.
• Reporting and Dashboards: Provide regular reports and dashboards to leadership on sprint and program deliverables.
• Product Backlog Management: Assist with managing the product backlog and prioritizing tasks to ensure alignment with key deliverables.
• Communication and Transparency: Maintain open communication channels and provide visibility into the Agile Delivery Team's progress and challenges.
• Impediment Removal and Risk Management: Identify and remove or mitigate delivery impediments and issues, and manage risk within agreed tolerances.
• Dependency Management: Coordinate dependencies and align efforts with other Agile Delivery Teams.
• Guidance and Support: Guide agency staff in adhering to Agile principles, practices, and SAFe framework guidelines.
• Strategic Relationships: Cultivate and maintain strategic professional relationships with business, vendor partners, and representatives from other government agencies.

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Evidenced experience (more than 3 years) and industry-recognized certification/qualifications as a Scrum Master.
• A strong understanding of the SAFe methodology and its application within a large and complex program, preferably within a government context.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate, collaborate, and negotiate with a range of audiences.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and teamwork skills, with the ability to work with colleagues to achieve outcomes.
• Experience effectively managing competing priorities and strategic directions, with an ability to remain calm under pressure and respond flexibly to change and uncertainty.
• Experience developing and monitoring the delivery of efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems.
• Proven ability to act with discretion and integrity in managing sensitive information.
• Proficiency in using various IT applications and project management tools, including the MS Suite, Azure DevOps, and Miro or similar.

Desirable Criteria:

• Industry-recognized certification or demonstrated work experience in SAFe agile ways of working.
• Tertiary qualifications or industry-recognized certification in Management, Project Management, or a similar field.
• Demonstrated work experience managing/delivering large-scale ICT transformation programs/projects in an Australian Government setting.

Residency and Clearance:

• Must be an Australian citizen.
• Must be open to working in any of the following locations: Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, or Melbourne.
• Must be able to obtain Baseline Clearance.
