Graduate Conservation Policy Officer

We are seeking a motivated and driven individual to join our team as a Graduate Conservation Policy Officer.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of conservation policy and work across multiple biodiversity teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver projects related to the conservation of priority species, ensuring successful outcomes through effective project management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Assist with field surveys for flora and fauna species, including the koala, and contribute to data collection and analysis.
  • Support the development of environmental policy and projects related to the City's planning scheme, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and input data for the City's flora and fauna database, maintaining accurate records and providing insights for decision-making.
  • Provide expert advice on environmental matters for City infrastructure projects, ensuring that ecological considerations are integrated into development plans.
Requirements
  • A recognised bachelor's degree or postgraduate qualification in a relevant field, such as ecology, conservation biology, or environmental science.
  • Full working rights in Australia for the duration of the program.
  • Ability to work full-time and manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, enabling strong communication with stakeholders and colleagues.
  • Ability to analyse complex information, think logically, and solve problems creatively.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
