About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled UX Researcher to join our team at the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). As a UX Researcher, you will play a critical role in informing the development of our online assessment and reporting platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative user research, including user interviews, surveys, usability testing, and contextual inquiries.
  • Analyse research data and synthesise key findings into actionable insights that guide product development and design decisions.
  • Create clear research documentation and artefacts, including research plans, interview scripts, personas, user journey maps, and research reports.
  • Present research findings and insights to team members and business stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Collaborate with UX designers and subject matter experts to ensure a user-centred approach is integrated throughout the design and development process.
Requirements
  • A strong portfolio of case studies demonstrating a deep understanding of user-centred research methodologies and techniques.
  • Experience conducting both qualitative and quantitative research, with the ability to distil complex findings into clear, actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in user research and analysis tools (we use Dovetail, Miro, and Figma).
  • Knowledge of usability testing methods and experience running usability studies from start to finish.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; the ability to effectively communicate research findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and the importance of designing for diverse user needs.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced, Agile environment.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A strong commitment to continuous learning and staying up to date with the latest UX research trends and tools.
