Catholic Education Officer

At Townsville Catholic Education, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced School Officer to join our team in Mount Isa.
About the RoleThis term-time, fixed-term position (12 months) will see you working 25 hours per week across five days, supporting our First Nation students with learning and development.
You will be responsible for working in collaboration with teachers to provide advice, support, and guidance to assist First Nation students. You will also promote student engagement in our Emerging Leaders Program.
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate their understanding of First Nations communities, cultures, and perspectives, and has experience in providing support and guidance to students from diverse backgrounds.
Your Key Responsibilities- Work in classrooms, with teachers, providing support for First Nation students
- Liaise with teachers to determine the progress and wellbeing of First Nation students
- Assist First Nation students in the transition from community to school and be a positive role model
- Provide guidance, pastoral care, and advocacy for First Nation students and their families
- Provide awareness to school staff on First Nation student backgrounds and First Nation Community Perspectives
- Support First Nation Students engaged in the Emerging Leaders Program
- Develop and maintain relationships with local First Nation community Groups and Traditional Land Owners representatives
- Assist in coordination and promotion of First Nation cultural education events, activities, and programs within the School Community
We are looking for someone with:
- Demonstrated capacity to organise and prioritise a range of tasks and set priorities to meet deadlines in a busy environment
- Ability to provide information and support to stakeholders regarding First Nation communities
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to the learning needs of First Nation students
- Competitive hourly rate: $45-$55 per hour
