We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Category Manager to lead local sourcing and category management for our Duty Free operations in Australia. This is a 12-month maternity leave cover, responsible for driving commercial performance through effective supplier negotiations, promotional planning, and margin optimization.
Key responsibilities include:
- Organizing and coordinating sourcing activities related to local suppliers across the cluster.
- Negotiating commercial terms and agreements with local vendors, ensuring alignment with global procurement strategies.
- Managing vendor relationships, resolving issues, and following up on open topics.
- Initiating and negotiating new projects with local suppliers in collaboration with global procurement.
- Defining and implementing local sourcing strategies in line with global category direction.
- Preparing negotiation strategies and supporting documentation for supplier discussions.
- Planning and executing stock depletion and liquidation programs for discontinued items.
- Coordinating with Marketing and Retail Operations to plan and implement local promotions.
- Inputting promotions into A&P tools and ensuring timely go-live with product managers.
- Supporting shop layout and planogram development for local products.
- Monitoring and analyzing sales, margins, inventory levels, and supplier performance.
- Tracking promotional effectiveness and ensuring compliance with margin policies.
- Preparing action plans based on performance insights and ensuring contract compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Providing category insights to airport authorities and other local stakeholders.
- Proven experience in procurement, sourcing, or commercial roles, preferably in retail or FMCG.
- Bachelor's degree in business or marketing.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Analytical mindset with experience in margin and performance tracking.
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities across cross-functional teams.
