Job Overview
The role of an Autonomous Support Specialist is pivotal in ensuring the seamless deployment and operation of our autonomous haulage solution. This exciting opportunity offers a unique chance to be part of a pioneering fleet of 120 fully Autonomous Road Trains transporting ore 150km to the Port.
This key position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, including development and deployment units, and assisting clients in transitioning to the AHS integrated solution.
- Integrating and commissioning drive-by-wire and autonomy hardware, as well as debugging and optimizing its performance.
- In-production facility and in-field deployment and testing of autonomous vehicle software and dynamic controls.
- Executing test procedures for new firmware, software, or hardware, ensuring compliance with established standards.
- Deploying software on embedded Linux controllers and monitoring their performance.
- Developing comprehensive test plans and schedules to ensure efficient resource allocation.
- Creating detailed test instructions for vehicle operators, outlining safety protocols and operational guidelines.
- Maintaining regular communication with NPI development teams to resolve issues and provide feedback for product improvements.
- Analyzing and investigating failure analysis activities to identify root causes of customer-reported issues.
- Acting independently to conduct data collection and complete required vehicle performance tests, often under time-sensitive conditions.
- Contributing to the creation of customer documentation and training materials for various software applications.
- Providing technical support to customers, addressing configuration and usability queries related to system hardware and software.
Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline, or trade certification in electrical, auto electrician, or mechanical with field-based experience working with AHS/OEM machinery within mining or heavy industry.
- Hands-on experience in installing vehicle electrical hardware and troubleshooting complex technical issues.
- Ability to adapt quickly to fast-changing requirements and priorities.
- Proven expertise in troubleshooting, problem-solving, and testing within AHS or autonomous applications in mining operations.
- A valid Australian work visa or permanent residency.
Desirable Qualifications
Candidates with additional skills and experience in:
- Automotive Electrical systems and heavy-duty fleet management.
- Familiarity with field-follow programs related to AHS equipment.
- Vector CANape, CANalyzer, and CAN hardware tool proficiency.
- CAN bus communication and diagnostics experience (J1939).
- Experience with testing controls and actuators, as well as data acquisition equipment (National Instruments tools, Somat Edaq, etc.).
