About the Role

This strategic security leadership role oversees core data storage, processing, presentation, and governance layers.

  • Leadership and Management:
    • Lead the Data Security function to ensure visibility, delivery, and enhancement of the Commission's data platforms.
    • Provide direction and set future strategies for staff learning and development on data security.
  • Incident Response and Management:
    • Develop and implement response plans in case of cyber security events.
    • Evaluate and coordinate malicious activities with relevant stakeholders.
    • Plan proactive incident responses to cyber threats across the Commission.
  • Data Platform Oversight:
    • Oversight the security posture of Commission data platforms, including data storage, transmission, processing, presentation, and representation in data governance layers.
    • Liaise with vendors to align service agreements with Commission ISMS compliance efforts.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration:
    • Engage with the Australian Cyber Security Centre and other bodies for enhanced organisational resilience.
    • Maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders on security matters.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation:
    • Evaluate emerging data and cybersecurity threats, implementing measures to address them.
    • Support organisational compliance with regulations and standards, including ISO 27001, PSPF, and frameworks.
  • Security Awareness and Education:
    • Promote a culture of security awareness throughout the organisation, ensuring all staff understand their security roles.

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to develop effective solutions for complex security issues.
    • A proactive approach to identifying and addressing security risks to protect information assets.

    • Commitment to staying up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity trends and technologies.
