About the Role
Mineral Resources is seeking a highly skilled Senior Underground Geotechnical Engineer to join our team at Mt Marion - Lithium Operations. As a key member of our underground mining team, you will be responsible for leading and supporting our team in all aspects of Geotechnical Engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage underground mining contractor's ground control activities.
- Provide comprehensive project planning, design, and management support.
- Direct and manage technical functions related to underground development and pre-production activities in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Develop and implement geotechnical systems, procedures, standards, and templates to enhance underground mining activities.
- Identify and manage geotechnical risks, develop systems to monitor and mitigate these risks.
- Conduct underground inspections, mapping, and monitoring to ensure ground control and safety.
- Update, maintain, and optimize the Ground Control Management Plan, Ground Support Standards, and Trigger Action Response Plans.
- Oversee the compilation and issuance of QA/QC, hazard maps, and monitoring reports.
- Contribute to short- to medium-term underground mine planning, design, and scheduling.
- Develop accurate and clear Geotechnical Instructions.
- Conduct routine field leadership inspections and support the implementation of geotechnical mine plans and budgets.
- Provide input into and involvement in Long Term Geotechnical Studies.
- Participate in the Operational Readiness Process for preparation for Underground Production.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mine Engineering, Geological Engineering, or Geology with a Post Graduate qualification in Geomechanics.
- Proven experience (6+ years) with hard rock underground mining and Geotechnical Engineering.
- Proficient using software such as Deswik, Rocscience suite, and other Geotechnical Software.
- Strong understanding of mining regulations, safety standards, and environmental compliance requirements.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions and influence outcomes.
- Exposure to Pastefill highly regarded.
- Exposure to Open Pit Geotechnical Engineering desired.
