Senior Litigation Lawyer

We are seeking a seasoned and accomplished Senior Litigation Lawyer to lead our Prosecutions and Enforcement teams. As a key member of our Legal Division, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality legal services and strategic advice.

The Prosecutions team focuses on supporting SafeWork NSW and the State Insurance Regulatory Authority, while the Enforcement team supports Fair Trading, the Building Commission, and Revenue NSW.

About the Role
  • You will report directly to an Assistant General Counsel and be responsible for leading and managing a team of lawyers in providing independent, accurate, and timely legal advice and representation in cases of litigation and enforcement.

You will work in a dynamic and fast-paced regulatory environment, joining a passionate and motivated group of professionals providing legal services across diverse areas of prosecutions and administrative review litigation.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage a team of lawyers in the conduct of litigation and the provision of legal advice, promoting a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous development.
  2. Provide clear, concise, and timely legal advice to senior executives on investigations and response strategies, including statutory interpretation, legal drafting, prosecution, and advocacy.
  3. Deliver legal services in a complex working environment with competing priorities, ensuring practical, defensible, and risk-based legal services that support strategic objectives.
  4. Identify and report on emerging and significant legal issues impacting the business or matters presenting reputational risk, recommending solutions to minimize risk and maximize opportunity.
About You
  • You must be admitted as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate as a solicitor.
  • You should possess advanced analytical, lateral thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply legal principles in a practical way.
  • You are a motivated and effective communicator with great initiative, able to work with diverse clients, other lawyers, and stakeholders at all levels.
  • You have strong experience in managing and developing people, including teams of lawyers at different stages of their career.
Requirements
  • You must hold a Bachelor of Laws or equivalent degree qualification and have a minimum of 7 years relevant post-qualification experience in litigation and one or more of the following areas: regulatory prosecutions, criminal law, or work health and safety law.
