Job Overview

  • We are seeking a skilled and reliable individual to fill the role of General Maintenance position. The ideal candidate will have experience in general maintenance of grounds and buildings, as well as knowledge of electrical, plumbing and general trade maintenance.
About the Job

This is a part-time opportunity that requires the ability to work unsupervised as well as part of a team. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking maintenance and repair work to the school buildings and grounds to ensure it is a safe environment for the school community.

The tasks involved in this role include mowing of site, whipping and edging of mowed areas, hedging of school gardens and plants and trees onsite, weeding and garden clean-ups, blowing of school hard surfaces, some weed spraying in Holiday periods, hosing and general cleaning of buildings and hard surfaces.

In addition to these tasks, the successful candidate will also be required to perform minor plumbing repairs on taps and sinks, minor electrical repairs with lights and switches, door repairs including locks, hinges, handles and general repairs, furniture repairs and install, building repairs on all classroom items, external fencing and minor repairs to playgrounds and playground structures.

As this role involves driving school vehicles, the successful candidate must hold a current driver's license and use their own vehicle. A current NSW Working with Children Check for paid employment is also required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance of Grounds:
    • Mowing of site, includes playgrounds, carparks and front driveway and access road.
    • Whipping and edging of mowed areas.
    • Hedging of school gardens and plants and trees onsite.
    • Weeding and garden clean-ups as required.
    • Blowing of school hard surfaces, including carpark and driveway.
    • Some weed spraying in Holiday periods.
    • Hosing and general cleaning of buildings and hard surfaces.
  • Maintenance of Buildings:
    • Minor plumbing repairs on taps and sinks.
    • Minor electrical repairs with lights and switches.
    • Door repairs including locks, hinges, handles and general repairs.
    • Furniture repairs and install.
    • Building repairs on all classroom items, external fencing.
    • Minor repairs to playgrounds and playground structures.
    • Drive school vehicles as required.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need to have:

  • Experience in general maintenance of grounds and buildings.
  • Knowledge of electrical, plumbing and general trade maintenance.
  • Understanding of machinery/equipment operation relating to building maintenance.
  • Ability to work unsupervised as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Trade background is desirable.
  • Current driver's license and use of own vehicle.
  • Current NSW Working with Children Check for paid employment.
