Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Municipal Maintenance Officer - Sweeper Driver to join our team at Hobsons Bay City Council. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for providing a high-quality and responsive general maintenance service to council-owned facilities, buildings, and assets within the municipality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate the sweeper vehicle safely and efficiently to maintain public areas.
  • Sweep streets, roads, sidewalks, and other public areas to remove debris, litter, and dirt.
  • Manage the sweeper's brushes, water sprayers, and other equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Monitor and maintain proper sweeper performance to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
  • Perform laneway maintenance, including the removal of overgrown weeds and vegetation.
  • Clean public spaces, including toilets, benches, bins, footpaths, roads, and other areas.
  • Install and maintain minor assets, such as street furniture and bin surrounds.
  • Clean and maintain Council assets, including overgrown weeds in laneways, drains, footpaths, and other public spaces.
Requirements
  • Good verbal communication skills to effectively interact with colleagues and the public.
  • A current Victorian Driver's License is essential for operating the sweeper vehicle.
  • Demonstrated experience in using general hand and power tools is an advantage.
  • OHS certificates (White Card, etc.) are an advantage.
