An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated individual to join Hobsons Bay City Council to assist with maintaining the heritage listed Williamstown Botanic Gardens. This is an ongoing, full-time position, based at the Gardens.
**What you’ll be working on**
- The Qualified Gardener is responsible for undertaking a wide range of horticultural tasks including specialised plant maintenance, turf maintenance, garden bed renovations, weeding, mulching, minor irrigation repairs to a high standard and in accordance with industry practices and standards.
- This exciting position will be to assist with work and maintenance programs ensuring programmed maintenance and horticultural activities are aligned with heritage principles of Williamstown Botanic gardens.
- Operation of a wide range of mechanical plant and equipment, and routine maintenance of such plant.
- Contribute to the implementation of the Williamstown Botanic Gardens Master Plan 2018 recommendations.
- Undertake all work in accordance with occupational health and safety protocols.
**What you need to succeed**
- Recognised Trade or Horticulture certificate or equivalent experience.
- Plant identification skills.
- Agricultural Chemical Users Permit or Chemicals Certificate.
- Experience in working in botanic gardens or public gardens.
- Experience performing manual work and working effectively within a team environment.
- Victorian driver’s license.
