About Us
Rockhampton Hospital is a 305-bed facility and the main referral hospital for Central Queensland. It provides integrated cancer care services in a newly established building with state-of-the-art medical equipment.
The hospital has multiple primary facilities, including Gladstone, Emerald, Yeppoon, and Biloela, along with smaller rural units that transfer patients to Rockhampton for specialist care and investigation.
The RoleThe Emergency Department (ED) Administration Officer plays a crucial role in maintaining a highly responsive and effective administrative support function to the 24-hour Emergency Department.
This role contributes to patient safety and flow by performing skilled reception and customer service duties to patients and visitors attending the ED.
The ED Administration Officer works closely with Nursing, Medical, and Allied Health staff to provide admission, discharge, and administrative support while maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, emotional resilience, attention to detail, and a data quality focus.
Key Responsibilities- Attend to presenting patients, family members, general public, police, and ambulance by undertaking standard ED Administration duties.
- Direct patients to appropriate treatment or assistance where required.
- Respond to general reception enquiries for the department by answering incoming telephone calls and ensuring accurate and timely transfer of messages and information.
- Consult with patients, carers, and clinical staff to obtain correct details for completion of admissions and record information accurately and efficiently into hospital information systems.
