Job Description

Job Title: Program Director, Libraries

Job Summary:

The Blue Mountains City Council is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Program Director, Libraries to lead the Library Services team. This is a senior leadership role that requires a strong vision for library services and the ability to manage a team to deliver high-quality services to the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for library services that aligns with the council's objectives and vision.
  • Lead and manage a team of library staff to deliver high-quality services to the community.
  • Manage the library's budget and resources to ensure effective and efficient delivery of services.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with community groups and organizations to promote library services and resources.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in library services and apply this knowledge to improve services and programs.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years' experience in a library management role.
  • High-level budget management experience.
  • Tertiary qualification in library studies or a related discipline.
  • Extensive personal experience and knowledge across a range of contemporary public library service issues.
  • Sound working knowledge of governing legislation and frameworks.
  • High-level written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in proposing new, creative, and sound alternatives to improve library services.
  • Ability to identify the implications and possible consequences of trends or events that may impact on current and future client needs.
  • Experience in building a strong team and creating an environment that encourages change and innovation.

Remuneration:

The successful candidate will receive a competitive remuneration package, including a base salary commencing at $111,004 gross per annum, 11.5% superannuation, and performance payments of 1% to 3.5% annual salary.
