Job Overview

This role involves working as a Special Needs Education Support Worker under teacher direction to assist in the education programs and promote a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

The Role
  • Assist teachers in the delivery of planned education initiatives to help students reach their full potential through the development of their academic, social, emotional, and physical skills.
  • Provide feedback on education and therapy programs and participate in the evaluation process relating to the achievement of goals in special education.
Key Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with staff members to meet the needs of students.
  • Lead and mentor other Education Support Workers and assist in their Professional Development.
  • Provide direct support to Administration, assisting with scheduling, data management, and general recording of student assessments and data.
  • Plan professional learning opportunities for Education Support Workers.
Requirements
  • Australian or New Zealand citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid visa with relevant work rights.
  • A valid Working With Children Check before starting.
  • Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before starting.
Selection Criteria
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the delivery of education programs and/or behaviour management plans.
  • Ability to lead, mentor, coach, induct, and train other Education Support Workers and professional teams.
  • Well-developed oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to coordinate staff schedules and relief to assist in the delivery of effective education programs.
  • Well-developed written communication skills, including report writing.
  • Ability to coordinate, collect, and present student data at a whole school community level.
