About the Role

The council is seeking a strategic and collaborative portfolio office lead to drive excellence in portfolio and project management practices.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide critical information on portfolio and project level health and progress through analysis and reporting.
  • Liaise with program leads and project managers to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Report to the head of portfolio and enterprise change, with line management responsibility for one portfolio analyst role.

This is a full-time or part-time (4 days) permanent role, based at the civic centre. Flexible working arrangements are supported while ensuring operational needs are met.

This is a Band 7 classified role.

Key Selection Criteria:
  • Proven track record of running a portfolio management office or completing programs of work on time and budget using disciplined planning skills and project management techniques.
  • Critical skills including program and project health reporting, decision making, influencing, and financial acumen.
  • Ability to provide strategic oversight and monitor interdependencies across the portfolio of projects.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication aptitude.
  • Strong collaboration and relational skills with a successful track record of developing staff capabilities and commitment to respect and integrity in relationships.
  • Demonstrated skill in managing analysis and hypothesis-driven problem-solving.
  • Developed strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think laterally, courageously, and creatively when developing solutions.
  • Aptitude to develop meaningful reports and data-driven insights and dashboards.
