Aboriginal Men's Family Violence Specialist

Supporting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander men in the court system for family violence related matters is a key aspect of this role.
This position will engage with clients, assess their needs and provide effective services to address individual requirements. Community outreach activities are undertaken to promote awareness of the program within the community.
Strong relationships will be built with internal and external stakeholders to provide a culturally safe response to Koori men accessing the court for Family Violence related matters.
The practitioner must have a thorough understanding of the impact of family violence on the Aboriginal community and be knowledgeable about current Victorian family violence policy context.
Experience working with victims and/or people who use family violence, providing support and crisis counselling, intake and risk assessment are highly valued.
Effective communication and collaboration with the community and stakeholders are essential for delivering high-quality services.
Key responsibilities include developing and implementing strategies to address family violence, building partnerships with community organisations and promoting cultural safety.
