Job Opportunity: Specialist ClinicianAbout the Role:

This position is based at the Austin Hospital acute medical and surgical wards and at the Austin Drug and Alcohol Service clinic nearby. The role offers flexibility, according to the practitioner's interest/needs: liaison with the Acute Pain Service and attendance at Pain Clinic; alternatively liaison with the Gastroenterology Unit, Liver Transplant Unit and attendance at Liver Clinic.

The specialist clinician will work with patients who require treatment for addictions and substance abuse, as well as those experiencing chronic pain or gastrointestinal issues. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with the Acute Pain Service and attend Pain Clinic as needed.
  • Work with the Gastroenterology Unit and Liver Transplant Unit as required.
  • Provide consultation and liaison services to patients with addictions and substance abuse issues.
  • Attend clinics and meetings as necessary to support patient care.

Requirements:

  • Be registered Medical Practitioner with current Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Show commitment to healthcare values.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of recovery and collaborative clinical practice.
  • Demonstrate commitment to high-quality patient care.
  • Demonstrate capability and interest in research.
  • Demonstrate understanding of clinical governance.
  • Have completed satisfactory Victorian Police record check and Working with Children's check.
