Job Title: Flood Engineer Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and skilled flood engineer to join our team in Sydney, Australia.

This role is ideal for a professional looking to take on new challenges and contribute to the development of innovative solutions for flood management.

Flood engineers with expertise in hydrological and hydraulic modelling, floodplain mapping, and analysis of flood impacts will thrive in this position.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects related to flood risk assessment, mitigation measures, and flood resilience strategies.

About the Role:

  • Conduct detailed investigations of flood events, assess flood mitigation measures, and provide recommendations for flood risk reduction strategies.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to develop flood management plans and policies, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Utilize advanced software and tools for flood modelling, data analysis, and visualization to support decision-making processes.
  • Participate in meaningful consultation with flood-affected communities across Australia.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, research, and advancements in flood engineering, and apply innovative approaches to enhance flood resilience.
  • Support project managers and project delivery responsibilities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 0-5 years of professional experience in flood engineering, flood modelling, floodplain management, or a similar role.
  • Experience in hydrological and hydraulic modelling software (e.g., TUFLOW), GIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS), and other relevant software applications.
  • Knowledge of flood risk assessment methodologies, floodplain zoning, flood management strategies, and relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Experience in conducting flood investigations, analysing flood data, and interpreting flood modelling results.
  • Interest in wider field of water resources including hydrogeology and water efficiency.
