About Mt Arthur CoalMt Arthur Coal is an open-cut coal mine 100% owned by BHP, located in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales. We are committed to working together with our communities to responsibly close the mine and create a shared vision for the future.
The RoleWe are seeking an experienced Mine Geologist to join our team, reporting to the Superintendent Resource. As a key member of our site operational team, you will provide geological support, conduct pit inspections, and update 3D models to support production planning and environmental needs.
Key Responsibilities- Provide geological support to site operational teams
- Conduct geological pit inspections and structural mapping
- Update 3D models of coal seams and geological features
- Develop production models to support through-seam loading and blasting
- Undertake geological data collection, interpretation, and validation
- Collaborate with Grade Control Engineers, Survey, Geotech, and Production teams
- Minimise coal loss and dilution through proactive pit presence and accurate geological plans
- Continuously improve procedures and processes
To be successful in this role, you will have a Tertiary Education in Geology, a valid Australia Driver's Licence, and operational experience in open-cut coal mining. You will also have exposure to geological modelling, knowledge of coal mining, structural geology, and coal flow, as well as experience with Vulcan, Geobank, and Plexer.
