Leadership Role in Aboriginal and Islander Community Development

This position plays a pivotal role in supporting the spiritual and cultural works of the Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress Regional Committee Qld (UAICC RCQ) and facilitating reconciliation throughout the diverse life and witness of the UCA Qld Synod.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Culturally Informed Leadership: Provides strategic advisory services, leveraging their expertise to inform leadership decisions that benefit the UAICC RCQ and its community partners.
  2. Community Engagement: Facilitates deepening relationships between the UAICC RCQ and entities within the Queensland Synod, Presbyteries, Congregations, Faith Communities, Agencies, and Schools & Residential Colleges, driving collaborative outcomes that enhance the Church's mission.
  3. Aboriginal and Islander Partnerships: Builds meaningful relationships with Aboriginal and Islander communities state-wide, fostering mutual understanding, respect, and cooperation.
  4. National Collaboration: Works in collaboration with the National Committee and Conference of the UAICC as guided by the strategic mission priority areas.
  5. Community Building: Aids and supports the establishment and development of faith communities and congregations in partnership with presbyteries engaging in ministry with Aboriginal and Islander peoples, nurturing their spiritual growth and unique cultural expressions.
  6. Social Justice and Advocacy: Takes proactive measures within the Queensland Church and the wider community to collaboratively address the needs and aspirations of Aboriginal and Islander people, advocating for their rights and social justice working towards self-determination.
  7. Resource Stewardship: Works with the UAICC RCQ & the Qld Synod in the stewarding of resources and diversifying funding sources to ensure long-term financial sustainability.
  8. Strategic Implementation: Collaborates and partners with the UAICC RCQ to understand and lead the implementation and delivery of strategic initiatives determined by the UAICC, working collaboratively between the Congress and QLD Synod, Presbyteries, Governing Bodies, Entities, and Agencies.

As an Executive Officer, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of Aboriginal and Islander people, working closely with the UAICC RCQ and its community partners to drive positive change and foster a more inclusive and equitable society.
