About the Role

The Department of Government Services is seeking a highly skilled Senior Finance Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for providing financial advice and support to our service delivery areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide financial and accounting advice to support all functions and ensure timeliness, accuracy, and compliance with relevant government legislation and directives, accounting standards, and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Lead elements of the development and implementation of our CAM funding transition project, working collaboratively with senior finance staff.
  • Develop and enhance approaches to key financial functions within our department in support of the CAM transition project and other projects, through the strategic use of financial modelling, process redesign, and innovative reporting.
  • Identify and work collaboratively to implement system improvements and the ongoing development and refinement of our management reporting processes and financial control environment.
Requirements
  • Broad financial technical knowledge and high-level financial accounting capability with demonstrated expertise in current Australian Accounting Standards and Victorian financial management legislation and compliance frameworks.
  • High level of proficiency in data analysis, and the ability to summarise and communicate such analysis as accurate and timely advice to senior managers to assist decision making.
  • Competent policy and advisory skills, with experience in policy writing and delivering policy communications products.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, negotiation, and relationship management skills, including the ability to advise and influence at all levels across various stakeholder groups.
  • Demonstrated achievement and/or aptitude in leading or coordinating projects which require constructive stakeholder engagement and collaborative work in a team environment, to deliver team, group, and organisational goals.
  • Demonstrated initiative and judgement in proactively identifying emerging issues and delivering solutions.
  • Experience in managing and developing team members (or direct reports), including supporting them through change.
  • Mandatory requirements: a tertiary qualification in accounting and membership of a recognised professional accounting body (CPA or CA).
