About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Industrial Relations Specialist to join our team at Future Generation Joint Venture - FGJV. As an Industrial Relations Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with industrial relations policies and procedures across our project workforce.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice on workplace relations policies and procedures to management and employees.
  • Liaise with payroll teams to ensure accurate application of industrial instruments and resolve payroll queries.
  • Manage union right of entry to site and provide guidance to union officials.
  • Respond to industrial incidents and actions in accordance with industrial risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
  • Coordinate subcontractor pre-qualification audits and mobilization of personnel.
  • Review ABCC compliance for the project and its subcontractors.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures across the project workforce.
  • Generate employment contracts and internal employee correspondence as required.
  • Ensure compliance with industrial systems, including counselling, discipline, issue resolution, probation, return to work, and performance evaluations.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resource Management, Employment Relations, Organisational Psychology, Law, or a relevant field.
  • Minimum 1 year's experience in a similar role, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Knowledge and experience in the application of HR/IR systems and processes.
  • Project management experience, with the ability to plan, implement, and manage longer-term initiatives.

  • Knowledge of the Fair Work Act.
  • Ability to interpret Common Law Contracts, Awards, and Enterprise Agreements.
  • Sound negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong initiative and proactive nature.
  • Key collaborative skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well-developed time management skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Exceptional knowledge and ability in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite.
