About Us: We are part of the Emirates Group, operating 16 catering facilities across 10 cities, employing over 4,500 people, producing over 65 million meals, and servicing over 246 thousand flights each year.

We are seeking a skilled Production Leading Hand to join our team at Cairns Airport. This role offers competitive pay rates and penalties, free onsite parking, daily staff meals, and uniforms.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example and competently perform all duties of a Senior Catering Attendant.
  • Supervise, train, and induct team members within designated work areas in all internal and external policies and procedures.
  • Oversee team members in an area involving the use of wash machines.
  • Demonstrate skilled use of production machinery for batch cooking.
  • Implement quality control techniques and ensure customer specifications are met.
  • Ensure that assigned areas of responsibility are properly organized and productivity and performance criteria are met.
  • Identify opportunities to improve performance and productivity across operations.
  • Investigate discrepancies in stock takes.
  • Ensure team members receive and adhere to breaks and rosters.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Implement directions given by management.
  • Complete documentation accurately and according to specification.
  • Perform administrative and reporting duties as required.
  • Adhere to Galley Loading Plan (GPL), Cart Packing Plan (CPP) and Equipment Loading Plan (ELP) relevant to the role.
  • Comply with Company policies on HALAL, HACCP, QSAI / Food Safety, Workplace Health and Safety, Quarantine, and Customs applicable to the role.
  • Support business demands of the Unit as directed.

Requirements:

  • Flexible availability to work various shifts across a 7-day week on a full-time basis.
  • Experience in commercial manufacturing or food environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Access to own reliable transport.
  • Sound numerical skills.
  • Good knowledge of WHS & Food Handling & Hygiene.
  • HACCP experience.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a busy open-plan kitchen.
  • Capacity to work autonomously and as part of a team.

About You: To be successful in this role, you will require approximately AU$80,000 - AU$100,000 per annum, based on your level of experience and qualifications.
