Experimental Science Technician

We are seeking a skilled Experimental Science Technician to join our team at Swinburne University of Technology. As a key member of our laboratory operations team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient running of both student practical classes and general housekeeping of classrooms and laboratories.
Your primary responsibility will be to prepare practical classes, set up and pull down of classes, troubleshoot experiments in collaboration with staff, advise students on various techniques and equipment usage, source and purchase consumables and equipment, and advise students on OH&S issues to ensure the safe and functional operation of both student practical classes and general housekeeping of classrooms and laboratories.
About YouTo be successful in this role, you will need to have experience in laboratory operations and demonstrated skills in biology, chemistry, and other sciences. You should also possess initiative to develop, test, troubleshoot, and document experiments. A general knowledge of OH&S in relation to technical and laboratory operations is essential, as well as experience and knowledge of non-laboratory STEM equipment and processes such as 3D printing, robotics, electronics, virtual reality, coding, etc.
A relevant science degree (Biotechnology or Biochemistry) or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training is required for this position. Additionally, experience with the operation and maintenance of AAS, GC, and HPLC is preferred.
