About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Renewable Energy Planner to join our team at Northern Grampians Shire Council. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in leading our renewable energy initiatives and ensuring the successful implementation of our projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Strategic Advice: Offer expert advice to our Councillors, Executive Leadership Team, and other levels of government on renewable energy and transmission projects, policies, and plans.
  • Project Coordination: Work collaboratively across the Council to provide coordinated strategic responses to renewable energy and transmission projects and policies.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with key external stakeholders, including government departments and agencies, developers, and the community, to ensure effective communication and advocacy for the Council.
  • Communication and Reporting: Maintain regular communication with Councillors, the Executive Leadership Team, and the community to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Funding Opportunities: Monitor and support the Council in seeking available funding opportunities related to renewable energy transmission.
  • Advocacy and Support: Support the Council's advocacy on renewable energy and transmission projects and policies, and assist with responsible authority requirements associated with approved renewable projects.
Requirements
  • Tertiary Qualifications: Hold a tertiary qualification in Planning or a related discipline, such as engineering or environment.
  • Project Management Experience: Have experience in managing multi-disciplinary projects, with a proven track record of success.
  • Knowledge and Experience: Possess knowledge and experience working with the Planning and Environment Act 1987, and have excellent project management skills and the ability to engage with various stakeholders.
  • Communication and Analytical Skills: Demonstrate highly developed communication skills and the ability to analyze and clearly communicate complex information and processes.
  • Time Management and Organizational Skills: Possess excellent time management skills and the ability to manage workloads and competing demands.
