Instrument Technician

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Instrument Technician to join our dynamic team at our medical centre. This role is based at Clayton and involves decontaminating, inspecting, assembling and sterilising reusable medical devices in accordance with AS 5369 Reprocessing of reusable medical devices in health and non-health related facilities.

You will also clean and perform high-level disinfection of endoscopes in alignment with GENCA Infection Prevention and Control in Endoscopy 2021. Additionally, you will transport reusable medical devices to and from the Operating Suite and Endoscopy unit.

You will work independently and as part of a team, adhering to infection prevention and OH&S guidelines and regulations.

About Us:

The Sterilising Services Unit (SSU) operates 24/7, ensuring the prompt and efficient reprocessing of all reusable medical devices. The SSU team provides essential support to the Operating Suite, which features nine operating theatres and handles a wide range of elective and emergency surgeries.

About You:

  • You must have strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Excellent attention to detail, highly organised and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Good knowledge of Australian Standard 5369 and GENCA guidelines

You must have the relevant qualifications and experience for the role, including Certificate III in Health-Sterilising Practice for Technicians or equivalent.
