Strategic Financial Policy Advisor Role

As a key member of the Queensland Treasury team, you will play a critical role in driving policy outcomes that shape the state's future.

About the Position

This is a high-impact role in the Queensland Treasury, providing expert financial and related policy advice through strategic thinking and analytical rigour. As a Strategic Financial Policy Advisor, you will work closely with your team and agency partners to consider and resolve complex financial and policy matters, identify key risks, and develop strategic responses.

  • Provide authoritative advice to help resolve complex financial, budget, and policy issues
  • Build strong relationships across government agencies

You will support Treasury leaders to deliver high-quality outcomes in a complex environment by:

  • Analyse agencies' financial and non-financial performance and identify emerging risks
  • Deliver high-quality briefings and presentations
  • Engage directly with agency clients and government stakeholders
  • Support the Executive Director to lead the team to deliver outcomes in a complex and time-sensitive environment
Key Skills and Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who have experience in analysing and interpreting financial and non-financial performance information and data, and/or in developing government policy. Strong stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills are essential.

  • Clear and persuasive communication across diverse audiences
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-impact role
  • Effective judgement, communication, and understanding of different perspectives in developing solutions and working with others.
