Heavy Duty Mechanic Job Description

About Us

We are a leading integrated manufacturer of titanium dioxide products. Our Australian operations extract and process rich mineral sands into valuable products including ilmenite, zircon, rutile and titanium dioxide pigment, which are then exported to international markets.

The role is part of our global operations and involves working at our open cut mineral sands mine in the picturesque southwest. The position will be offered on a full-time, permanent basis, working a 38-hour week compressed into a 9-day fortnight, every second Friday off.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct routine and complex maintenance and testing procedures on a wide range of plant equipment.
  • Perform fault diagnosis, installation, maintenance, and repair tasks across site equipment and infrastructure.
  • Servicing and maintaining various diesel-powered fixed plant pumps and trailers, attending to breakdowns and minor works on the small light vehicle (LV) fleet.
  • Carrying out general inspections and providing support for plant maintenance as required, strictly adhering to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
  • A Trade Qualification as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic (Cert III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent).
  • At least 3 years' experience, previous experience working as a heavy diesel mechanic, maintaining fixed and mobile plant in the Mining sector (or similar).
  • Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy mobile plant, trucks, or earthmoving equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail and precision.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrated strong commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a cohesive, multi-trade maintenance team.
