About the Role:

  • We are seeking a dedicated Schools Officer to help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our students and staff.
  • As part of our operational team, you will be responsible for ensuring our school grounds and facilities are well-kept, compliant, and support a high-quality learning experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver and collect mail, parcels, and documents; record and deliver messages; print and photocopy; prepare classrooms for examinations and assembly halls; move and arrange furniture; remove and relocate furniture from room to room; general store duties including receipting, opening up, checking, storing, and distributing school supplies and stocks; maintain various registers; and stocktake and record school equipment, furniture, and assets.
  2. Support security duties at the school, using and maintaining school security systems, banking school funds, and locking and unlocking buildings within core hours.
  3. Assist with clearing and hosing drains and gutters; collecting waste, food, and paper on school grounds; undertaking immediate action cleaning duties outside normal operating hours; coordinating the removal and disposal of rubbish as required; and assisting with requirements for significant events such as fetes, plays, and sporting events.
  4. E nsure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, including maintenance of a safe work environment, safe storage and handling of chemicals, fertilizers, and fuel; bring attention to any safety hazards; manage equipment records; and maintain tools and equipment for repair services.

Requirements:

  • Current Queensland Government employee status
  • Able to provide two referees with relevant work history
  • A written statement demonstrating achievements and capabilities meeting the role's requirements
